Você é Uma Raridade

Temos a tendência de ser ingratos.

Ficamos chateados com minúcias.

Se as coisas não acontecem conforme planejamos, ficamos aborrecidos, reagimos com exagerada sensibilidade, resmungamos, reclamamos, ficamos melindrados e insatisfeitos.

Mas nem nos damos conta como nossa vida é boa.

Espero que as comparações que li recentemente em uma revista abram nossos olhos para a realidade:


A Bíblia nos exorta: "Em tudo, dai graças, porque esta é a vontade de Deus em Cristo Jesus para convosco" (1 Ts 5.18).

Veja a seguir alguns dos motivos para dar graças a Deus.

Se, para efeito de comparação, reduzirmos a 100 pessoas a população mundial de mais de seis bilhões, aplicando os mesmos critérios de proporcionalidade hoje vigentes no mundo, chegaremos aos seguintes dados: Nesse grupo de 100 pessoas teríamos 57 asiáticos, 21 europeus, 14 americanos e 8 africanos.

Entre as 100, 52 seriam mulheres e 48 homens, 30 brancas e 70 de cor, 30 cristãs e 70 não-cristãs. Seis pessoas deteriam 59% do capital mundial, e estas seriam de origem européia.

Oitenta pessoas viveriam em situações quase insuportáveis. Setenta seriam analfabetas e 50 não teriam roupas para se vestir adequadamente.

Uma pessoa estaria morrendo e outra nascendo. Apenas uma teria computador e outra teria diploma universitário.

Pense no fato de que você – muito provavelmente – faz parte dos poucos privilegiados que vivem nesta terra e alegre-se por ser uma raridade.

Pois, caso tenha acordado com saúde hoje pela manhã, você estará em melhor situação que milhões de pessoas que não sobreviverão à próxima semana.

Se nunca esteve exposto ao perigo de uma guerra, à solidão de uma prisão, ao tormento da tortura ou à fome insuportável, então você vive muito melhor do que 500 milhões de outras pessoas.

Se você pode ir à sua igreja sem ter medo de ser molestado, preso ou perseguido, ou até de ser morto por sua fé, estará vivendo melhor que três bilhões de pessoas.

Se tem comida na geladeira, roupas em seu guarda-roupas, um teto sobre a cabeça e um lugar para dormir, então você é mais rico que 75% dos habitantes da terra.

Se tem dinheiro no banco, na poupança ou em sua carteira, então você faz parte dos 8% de abastados deste planeta.

Caso seus pais ainda sejam vivos e ainda estejam casados um com o outro, então, realisticamente, você faz parte de uma rara minoria.

Se consegue entender estas linhas, você é um abençoado que sabe ler, entre bilhões de pessoas analfabetas.

Com certeza temos todas as razões do mundo para praticarmos aquilo que lemos em Efésios 5.20: "dando sempre graças por tudo a nosso Deus e Pai, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo".

Ao mesmo tempo, devemos dedicar-nos inteiramente à tarefa de levar a mensagem da salvação, libertação e vida plena em Jesus a tantas pessoas que ainda não têm acesso a ela. (Norbert Lieth).



YOU ARE A RARITY


We tend to be ungrateful.


We were upset with minutiae.

If things do not happen as planned, we get upset, we react with exaggerated sensitivity, grumble, complain, we were stung and dissatisfied.

But even as we realize our life is good.

I hope that the comparisons I've read recently in a magazine open our eyes to reality:

The Bible exhorts us: "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Here are some reasons to give thanks to God.

If, for comparison, 100 people to reduce the world population of over six billion, applying the same criteria of proportionality applicable in the world today, will get the following data: In this group of 100 people would have 57 Asians, 21 Europeans, 14 Americans and 8 Africans.

Among the 100, 52 were women and 48 men, 30 white and 70 color, 30 Christians and 70 non-Christian. Six people would possess 59% of world capital, and these would be of European origin.

Eighty people would live in almost unbearable situations. Seventy were illiterate and 50 would not have clothes to dress appropriately.

One person died and another was born. Only one computer and another would have a university degree.

Consider the fact that you - most likely - is part of the privileged few who live on this earth and rejoice to be a rarity.

Well, if you agreed with health this morning, you're better off than millions of people who will not survive next week.

If you have never been exposed to the danger of a war, the loneliness of imprisonment, torture or torment of unbearable hunger, then you live a lot better than 500 million people.

If you can go to church without fear of being harassed, arrested or persecuted, or even being killed for their faith, will be living better than three billion people.

If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your wardrobe, a roof overhead and a place to sleep, then you are richer than 75% of the inhabitants of the earth.

If you have money in bank, or savings in your wallet, then you are part of the 8% of the wealthy of this planet.

If your parents are still alive and are still married to each other, then, realistically, you're part of a rare minority.

If you can understand these lines, you are a blessing that can read, among billions of illiterate people.

Surely we have every reason in the world to practice what we read in Ephesians 5:20: "giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

At the same time we must devote ourselves to the task of bringing the message of salvation, liberation and full life in Jesus to so many people still lack access to it. (Norbert Lieth).
